Amy & Marcus | Adventure elopement at Pictured Rocks National Lakeshore

UPPER PENINSULA, MICHIGAN
AUGUST, 2020

Amy emailed me a month before their elopement, describing a stress free day full of hiking and authentic connection in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan. After our initial phone call, I was absolutely certain we will make this Pictured Rocks elopement happen.

Amy and Marcus are an absolutely fearless power couple living in Chicago. Their large traditional summer wedding was planned for mid-August, but they ended up taking a completely different route, kind of an exciting off-road, if you will. Their untamed spirits always dreamt of an epic adventure elopement and covid made it happen.

After our initial consultation the couple immediately booked a suite at the Landmark Inn in Marquette, ordered a bouquet at Flower Works and absolutely essential Babycakes instead of a traditional cake. I started drafting the timeline visualizing the ideal locations for the day.

Amy and Marcus were looking for dramatic views and an intimate spot for their Pictured Rocks elopement vows. Their wedding celebration was planned for the weekend and I was worried that we will be immersed in crowds of tourists instead of peaceful sceneries. And oh I was so wrong! We found a beach with a dramatic coastline that ended up being an absolutely magical location for their powerful elopement vows on the cliffs of Lake Superior. It was such a deeply emotional experience for me, to witness their journey and to be a part of such a pivotal moment in their lives. At sunset, Amy and Marcus played Bolero, danced on the cliffs and made fire. Their fearlessness became even more apparent when they leaped into the chilly lake IN THEIR WEDDING ATTIRES!

‘It was awesome and we really appreciate all the effort you put in to help us plan. You had a very cool vision and really guided us throughout the day. Thanks so much for making our day so special, we will never forget it.’ I’m still sobbing with joy reading their note and looking at their authentic wedding celebration. It was absolutely epic.
