Presque Isle Wedding with Dramatic Views and Marquette Libations
When you think of a summer Michigan wedding, you might picture lakeside venues or rustic barns—but for Laura and Phillip, the dream was something quieter and wilder. Their intimate Presque Isle wedding unfolded in the heart of the Upper Peninsula, where rocky cliffs, windy conditions and the crash of Lake Superior set the stage for an unforgettable day of love and adventure.

A First Look Among the Pines at Sugarloaf Mountain
Laura and Phillip booked a 5-hour elopement photography package, so instead of capturing them getting ready, the photo coverage began on a trail. The couple made their way toward Sugarloaf Mountain, a rugged overlook just outside Marquette. There, under the canopy of evergreens, they shared their first look.
It was quiet. No audience. No rush. Just the kind of moment that feels sacred and effortless.
Afterwards, we set off on an easy but incredibly picturesque trail up to the mountain. Laura and Phillip hiked hand-in-hand up to the summit—Laura in a flowing romantic dress and trail shoes, Phillip in a gray suit.

Sunset Point Wedding Ceremony at the Shore at Presque Isle
The ceremony took place on Presque Isle, a forested peninsula that juts into Lake Superior with dramatic views and wild, rocky beauty. Just a few close friends and family gathered as Laura and Phillip exchanged vows with the waves crashing against the cliffs in the background. No arch, no aisle—just the rock beneath their feet and the wind above.

A Downtown Marquette Wedding Reception at Delft Bistro
After the ceremony, the group headed downtown to Delft Bistro, a stylish and intimate spot in the heart of Marquette. With its mix of old-school comfort and modern design, it made the perfect backdrop for a relaxed evening of celebration.
Long tables were set with local flowers and flickering candles. The menu featured charcuterie boards, seasonal dishes, Michigan craft beer and local wines. Instead of a formal program, the evening flowed naturally—from a couple of toasts to impromptu dances beneath the twinkle lights.
The former movie theater marquee out front read simply: Congratulations, Laura and Phillip!

With the forest as their chapel and the lake as their witness, Laura and Phillip built a day that felt uncrushed and authentic, wild-hearted, intentional, and full of joy. This Marquette wedding celebration offers a beautiful template for couples who envision a more intimate experience: keep it small, stay grounded, and embrace simplicity.
