Belle Isle Wedding Inspiration
This sunny wedding editorial in Detroit has a scent of carefree summers and vintage aesthetic, combining whites, dark blues and ochres into a unique visual inspiration. Our fantastic team of Michigan wedding vendors pulled together a design that showcases quirky luxury in a well-known Detroit spot. Touched by Santa Barbara sun, Paris luxury and Detroit grit, we combined elements that made our hearts skip a beat.

Vintage Car Adorned with Florals
When I first started envisioning a luxury elopement editorial on the Belle Isle in Detroit, I knew I wanted to add elements that could become a real inspiration for my couples. So, featuring a quintessential vintage 50’s Plymouth Belvedere from the garage of a wedding rental Vintage Luxury Rentals in eggshell color was a given. To pull this design together, a fantastic Ypsilanti local florist Ginny of We Adore Flowers adorned the car with a custom floral arrangement.

That classic 50’s look
Using the vintage car was the most important element that set the tone of the entire aesthetic of the wedding editorial. Renting a car as a prop for your wedding or elopement portraits is a fun idea in any setting.
Belle Isle Casino Wedding Venue
While the Belle Isle Casino never served as a gambling establishment, it is one of Belle Isle’s wedding venues alongside The Detroit Yacht Club. Jessica, the fiery red-headed bride wore a short dress with puff sleeves from AW Bridal and the groom went with a slim fitting Mad Men style suit and shades. We used the historic Casino building in Detroit’s Belle Isle along with the classical marble fountain, to create a clean aesthetic using gorgeous architectural features of this stunning historic city.

Champagne Tower at the Belle Isle Fountain
We love a good champagne toast, and the best wedding presentation for our favorite bubbly drink is a champagne tower. The elegant and sophisticated aesthetic of the glasses elevated the marble look of the Belle Isle fountain into a shimmery sunset.

Jessica and Michael sipped on Freixenet until it was all gone. Their dog Pip made a surprise visit right as they were getting ready to eat a thin crust Mootz pizza as a snack.

Belle Isle Park History
Belle Isle is a recreational island park located in the Detroit River. The strains of an ever-growing urban environment inspired cities to designate space for relaxation and recreation, and Belle Isle, as it became known, was a popular choice to become a park. It is the country’s largest city island park, and at 982 acres, it is larger than New York City’s Central Park. And as the Detroit Historical Society notes, some elements from a plan designed by famed landscape architect Frederick Law Olmsted were incorporated into the island.
